More than 60 people from businesses across West Cumbria were given a digital digest at two free seminars.
Furniture shop owners, yoga practitioners, museums and shoe shop bosses were among those finding out how to maximise their online presence.
The events at Energus, Lillyhall, were organised by LOCALiQ, part of Newsquest Cumbria.
Rachael Dunn, business development manager, led the sessions, which explored options available to firms from search engine optimisation to how to make the most of advertising on social media platform Facebook.
It also included tips on how to use free tools offered by search engines to make sure businesses’ websites were delivering the best experience for their customers/
Rachael said: “The attendance was amazing and the seminars were really relaxed. The different industries and businesses represented were diverse – it was interesting how diverse as it demonstrated that all sorts of industries and businesses need advice.”
Jennifer Twentyman, of Strolling4Shoes in Cockermouth, said the seminar she and colleague Emma Morgan attended was really interesting.
She said: “We’re always looking to see how we are doing online and see where we can improve and how we can attract more customers. It was really useful.”
Pat Irving, of Deanscales, runs East to West Wellbeing.
The yoga teacher said: “It’s given me food for thought about how to market my business and I’ve now got a useful list of things to check off!”
