We’re approaching the end of Season 5 in Fortnite, but before this season wraps up, players still have a few more weeks of challenges to complete. Week 7’s tasks are now available for all platforms–PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and mobile–and feature the typical assortment of free and Battle Pass-exclusive challenges, but one of this week’s objectives is a little different from the usual fare.
Among the new Battle Pass challenges is one that has players searching treasure chests. This sounds straightforward enough, but this particular task works a little differently than previous challenges of this nature. Rather than being able to open any chests around the island, this challenge is broken up into multiple steps that have you traveling to a specific area of the map and opening a chest there. Each of these steps rewards you with one Battle Star, so you’ll receive a total of five if all of the steps have been completed.
Fortunately, aside from this little wrinkle, completing the challenge is fairly easy, as you can open any chest in the designated location to unlock the next step in the process. The first step takes you to Pleasant Park, and once that has been completed, you’ll be tasked with opening a chest in Retail Row, then one in Lucky Landing, then Greasy Grove, and finally Paradise Palms, one of the new areas introduced at the start of Season 5.
If you need a visual guide on how to complete this challenge, we’ve put together the video at the top of this story to walk you through the entire five-step process. You can also take a look at the map and screenshots above to see where the treasure chests can be found.
Besides that, Week 7’s trickiest challenge is to follow the treasure map found in Dusty Divot, which will take you to a cluster of trees just past the stone head northwest of the area. The rest of the challenges are all much more straightforward, although some, like dealing damage to opponents’ structures with Remote Explosives and scoring three eliminations with an SMG, may take a bit of persistence to complete. Finish all of this week’s objectives and you’ll also clear another Road Trip challenge.
Only a few more weeks remain in Season 5, and it appears developer Epic is already teasing what’s in store for next season with another strange phenomena in the game. Following the recent 5.30 update, lightning bolts can be seen striking the ground as you play. Just what this portends remains to be seen, but it seems the forthcoming Season 6 will shake Fortnite up in another big way when it eventually arrives.
In the meantime, you still have until the end of the season to level your Battle Pass up and unlock the Fortnite Season 5 rewards. If you need help completing any of the challenges, be sure to consult our complete Season 5 challenge roundup.
